Qatar signs $12 bn deal to buy F-15 jets from US amid Gulf crisis

As Qatar faces regional isolation due to the ongoing diplomatic rift with its Middle-Eastern neighbors, the United States confirmed the sale of F-15 fighters worth $12 billion to Qatar, according to CNN. Through a statement, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Roger Cabiness notified CNN of a meeting conducted between Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid al-Attiyah to finalise the purchase and discuss security concerns among the two nations, including an update on the operations of the Islamic State (ISIS).
